‘Exemplary leadership role by women in Nepal’

Kathmandu, March 8: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that women’s participation and leadership in the political, economic and social transformation sectors of Nepal was an example in the world.

In a message today on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Dahal said, “The leadership role played by women in all movements including the armed conflict and people’s movement has been written in Nepali political history with golden letters.”

Saying equal participation of women was necessary for the development of the country, he said that rights of women have been ensured as fundamental rights and rights of participation of women on the basis of proportional inclusive principle in all state bodies have been guaranteed in the constitution.   “The arrangement of reservation has increased representation of women and has played a significant role in women’s empowerment,” reads the message.

PM Dahal had also urged all to develop a culture of respecting women, and put an end to violence against women and join the government’s campaign of women’s empowerment. RSS
