Minister Singh pledges arsenic free water in 20 Tarai districts

Bardiya, March 3: Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Prem Bahadur Singh has pledged to supply arsenic free water in 20 districts of Tarai.

Minister Singh made the remark while attending the Fifth Annual General Assembly (AGM) of Kusumba Drinking Water and Sanitation Consumer Committee at Sano Sri Tarataal Municipality on Thursday.

The Minister also noted that 106 projects were launched in the Tarai districts as part of the implementation of the Tarai Madhes Drinking Water Reform Programme.

Singh further added that the projects aimed to launch a range of water purification programmes including deep-hole boring, installation of solar pumping system, overhead tank construction and water treatment facilities. He called on the Bardiya’s residents to bring forth such new projects.

During the programme, Tarataal Municipality’s Drinking Water Project Committee presented a list of its demands. They appealed to Minister Singh for allocation of necessary budget for management of sewerage system in the town. RSS
