Baniyani (Jhapa), July 3: The Election Commission has been approached to resolve the dispute surfaced in the counting of votes at Arjundhara Municipality of Jhapa district under the second phase local level elections.
Election officer Radha Krishna Khatiwada said that a letter has been written to the Election Commission seeking its good offices in resolving the dispute among the parties after it exacerbated. “We are waiting for the EC decision. Whatever decision comes from the EC, we will do accordingly,” he added.
The vote counting at the municipality has been suspended since 1 pm Sunday due to the dispute. Although efforts for thrashing out a solution was made throughout Sunday, it was unsuccessful.
The parties disputed after the voting form of the municipality’s ward number 2 was found scribbled. RSS
