Seven appointed as expert members in population council

Kathmandu, Feb 14: The government has appointed seven experts in the National Population Council.

The first meeting of the Council held at Singha Durbar under the chair of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today decided to appoint Prof Dr Yogendra Bahadur Gurung, Prof Dr Ramsharan Pathak, Roshana Karki, Dr Ganesh Bahadur Karki, Mahendra Prasad Sharma, Padamraj Bhatta and Dr Punam Lal Karna in the Council as expert members for the systematisation of the population statistics. The meeting also agreed to keep the records of data relating to population as per a federal structure and archive them in a digital for, as stated by Prime Minister’s personal secretary Ramesh Malla.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister said population control and management was a very important factor for a managed and modern lifestyle.

Minister for Population and Environment Jayadev Joshi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Krishna Bahadur Mahara were also present in the meeting.
