High-level monitoring panel formed

Feb 11, 2017- The Prime Minister’s Office on Friday formed a high-level panel to monitor the condition and status of various development projects, revenue mobilisation and government service delivery across the country.

A decision to this effect was taken on Tuesday at the prime minister’s level. Secretary Tanka Mani Sharma has been named the coordinator of the monitoring panel. Sharma heads the Economic and Infrastructure Division at the PMO. Joint secretaries from the Finance Ministry, National Planning Commission, the Office of the Public Procurement, Office of the Auditor General, National Vigilance Centre and the PMO are members of the panel.

The decision to form monitoring panel follows complaints about sluggish projects, slow pace of revenue mobilisation and pathetic services at the government offices in various districts.

The panel is mandated to monitor development projects, status of revenue mobilisation and service delivery. It will submit its report to the chief secretary. In the first phase, the panel will monitor Kathmandu, Jhapa and Morang districts, according to a statement issued by the PMO.
